Tony Moran

Anthony has been an active member/artist of the RIVAA Gallery co-op on Roosevelt Island since 2000. His paintings are currently on exhibition.

At the age of 43 Anthony Moran suffered a massive stoke and as a result has aphasia; damage suffered to a particular part of the brain that affects speech and the ability to remember words.

Anthony does not have the use of his right arm, and has had to teach himself how to paint and write with his left hand. As anyone can see by looking at his wonderful, expressive oil paintings of the female face and form, he has taught himself well! Tony is a true painter in his soul. He deftly communicates his passion for life and love by his enthusiastic use of vivid colors, in creating the female ideal.

Currently, Anthony spends several days a week in speech therapy. He was invited to speak at the 2008 “Speaking Out!” Sixth National Aphasia Association Conference at New York University Steinhardt.
