About the event
A Sociable Fortepiano Salon at RIVAA
Friday, March 6, 2026 | 7:30 PM
RIVAA Gallery, 527 Main Street, Roosevelt Island
RIVAA is delighted to host A Sociable Fortepiano Salon, an engaging and intimate evening with the Fellows of the March 5–9 Sociable Fortepiano Residency, presented in collaboration with the Westfield Center and the Cornell Center for Historical Keyboards.
Inspired by the lively musical gatherings of the 18th and early 19th centuries, this salon-style program brings together Classical and Romantic chamber music with 18th-century salon games, imagined historical conversations, and moments of audience interaction. The evening invites you not just to listen, but to experience music as it might have been shared in Beethoven’s time — social, spirited, and full of personality.
The program includes works by Beethoven, Haydn, Hummel, Ries, and more, performed on period instruments in the intimate setting of the RIVAA Gallery.
With
Federico Ercoli, fortepiano,
Lydia Becker, violin,
Joella Becker-Harrow, cello,
Cordelia Mutter, cello,
Shuntaro Sugie, fortepiano ,
Josh Liu, Violin
Free admission. Suggested donation: $25 | $15 for students and seniors.
We hope you will join us for this special evening of music and community at RIVAA.
