No Fear of Time

RIVAA presents No Fear of Time. Curated by Amazia Thompson, Angie St. Louis, and Jason Stone, this exhibition explores a distinctive perspective on Afrofuturism, one that reveals what it means to be Rooted in the Past and Founded in the Future. Through three interconnected viewpoints:

• Those from history who imagined and created ideas far ahead of their time, helping define the world we live in today

• Those at the cutting edge, pushing boundaries and actively shaping the future in the present moment

• Those envisioning what’s to come, crafting detailed visions of the future that feel ever closer to becoming reality

With these lenses — and a dynamic mix of mediums including fashion, hardware, sculpture, comics/illustration, and abstraction — No Fear of Time invites us to recognize that the future is not distant. It’s already here. If we open our eyes, we can behold its identity: unique, familiar, challenging, riveting, and tenacious. Something intrinsically within us is waiting to be expressed beyond us, something that allows us to move forward with No Fear of Time: Rooted in the Past, Founded in the Future.
