Created in 2000 when Ramzi Aburedwan lived in Angers, the Dal’Ouna musical

ensemble features original compositions as well as a wide range of Arab and

Palestinian repertoire, both classical and folkloric.

Ramzi Aburedwan presents his own original compositions inspired by a wide

range from the traditional repertoire, both Palestinian and Arab.

Dal’Ouna evokes the Levant’s vast musical universe. That Mediterranean Orient

which, from Syria to Iraq, also forged the history of Palestinian music.

Referring to the festive and popular music of Palestine, Dal’Ouna sings about the daily life of that country inhabited by the hopes of a people that remains friendly, filled with love of life, laughter and singing.

Their repertoire extends from Egypt to Andalusia, working its way through

traditional Middle Eastern music. The group offers a blending of confluences

of Oriental and Western music, with contemporary and jazzy accents.

The musicians invite us into a journey of sounds of Mediterranean and Arab instruments such as the bouzouk, the oud, oriental

percussion such as the riq, the bendir or the dar- bouka, accompanied by the

viola and the accordion. Their music can be instrumental, or accompanied by poetic songs speaking

of love, freedom and nature.

The Dal’Ouna Ensemble is also a story of meetings, of sharing, a sensitive

connection, de- void of borders, a hope-bearing message.

"Musician, composer and conductor, Ramzi Aburedwan flows with great ease between East and West. From Arabic maqam to symphonic music, Palestinian folklore to tarab or from Sufi incantations to music for large orchestras, he has made this universal musical space his home and destiny, and in doing so, has overcome the fractures of his past."

Alain WEBER, world music curator at Philharmonie de Paris and artistic director of Sacred Music Festival of Fes
