Welcome to RIVAA Gallery

My bronze and wood sculptures, located in buildings and exhibited as models for enlargement, embody a notion of concreteness and monumental physical presence. Although rooted in minimalist art, I am departing from clear or serial form by seamlessly fusing multiple distinct segments of cantilevered, rolling and niched planes. I work with broad simplified masses and shaped space originating ideas through the fluid gestures of my ceramic sculptures. Successive firings with color glazes and terra sigalatta add spatial complexity combining painting and sculpture. Tilted and raised slabs of wood and metal torque, anchor and raise the ceramic pieces.

Since the early 1980’s my sculptures have been included in international collections and juried exhibitions at Allied Artists of America, The Art Students League of New York, Guild Hall East Hampton, and the National Academy of Design Museum, NYC. I have been represented by DOME gallery, Tunsky-Reeves Gallery, and others.
